1. Introduction: The Hype Around the Venty Vaporizer
Storz & Bickel has created a considerable buzz with the Venty Vaporizer, attempting to combine the best features of their product range. But is this device truly the ultimate "next-level" innovation, or does it fall short of high expectations, especially considering its price?
2. Design and Handling: Innovative Elegance or Dreary Over-Engineering?
The Venty disappoints at first glance; it is smaller and lighter than expected. Weighing only 252g and boasting a handy size, it is undoubtedly designed for mobility. But what about everyday handling? The device feels solid, yet some users might find the design a bit too simple; the square-edged shape, for us, has little to do with innovation, rather giving a retro feel, which is emphasized by the (default) green display. But we are not "throwing in the towel" yet and will put the vaporizer through its paces.
3. Airflow: Revolutionary or Gimmick?
At the core of the Venty is its unprecedentedly adjustable airflow, reaching up to 20 liters per minute. This feature allows the user to precisely set the draw resistance while maintaining consistent vapor production. While some might consider this a significant innovation, others might view it as an unnecessary addition that contributes little to actual vapor quality. This feature is relatively difficult to describe in words, but I will try to explain it very simply. A built-in airflow sensor within the device adjusts the vaporization to the intensity of your draw on the mouthpiece. This means that if you are a mouth-to-lung vaper, you can close the airflow quite a bit, but still get optimal vapor and effect for you due to the individualized vaporization in the chamber. This truly impressed us in the test with a few grams of medical cannabis and overshadowed the negative first impression.
4. Heating Up and Heating Element: Efficiency Under Scrutiny
One of the Venty's most impressive features is its rapid heat-up time of just 20 seconds. This is simply because the Venty has "much more power"; the heating chamber operates with a total output of 130 watts - in comparison, the Mighty+ has a total power consumption of 40 watts. This is a massive increase in power and ensures extremely fast warm-up phases for the Venty. This speed is particularly attractive for users who value quick sessions, where they appreciate vaping 20 seconds earlier.
5. Battery Performance and Charging: Breakthrough or Average?
The two integrated lithium-ion batteries promise high power consumption and sufficient battery life for about 10 sessions. In our test, it was over after 7 sessions, which is an acceptable result. The Supercharge feature via USB-C is practical, allowing the device to be charged to 80% in about 40 minutes. This is a significant improvement compared to many other vaporizers on the market. However, one would expect this for such a price.
6. User Interaction: App Integration and Control
The ability to control the Venty via a web app offers an additional layer of personalization. Through the app, users can adjust various settings such as temperature, boost modes, and lighting intensity and color. This aspect makes the Venty particularly interesting for tech-savvy users who want to further individualize their vaporizer.
7. Material and Quality: Hype or High Quality?
Storz & Bickel has made a name for itself using high-quality materials. The Venty is no exception. The use of food-grade and heat-resistant materials, as well as the integration of Peek plastic in critical areas, speaks to the device's quality and durability. Adventurous as we are, we subjected the device to 3 drop tests. The first from 60 cm height, the second from 1m height, and the third from 1.80m height. The surface was a parquet floor. Here, the overall concept of the Venty becomes particularly clear: only a few small scratches. Storz & Bickel has once again managed to build a small "tank" that is unharmed by falls from almost 2m. Here, we are particularly surprised overall.
8. Pricing: Cost-Benefit Analysis
The Venty is not in the higher segment price-wise, but rather in a segment that has not existed until now. Around €450 for a handheld vaporizer is a truly impressive figure that initially left all our employees speechless. The question of whether the price is justified heavily depends on individual needs and preferences, and of course, whether one is able to spend €450 on a vaporizer. Some will say that the original Mighty is completely sufficient, while others believe that the individual color adjustment of the display alone justifies a purchase. Opinions in our office vary widely.
9. Final Verdict: The Venty Vaporizer Under Critical Scrutiny
In summary, the Venty Vaporizer is an impressive device that sets new standards in many respects, especially the airflow sensor which convinced us in practical application. Although it may seem too technical or expensive for some, it is undoubtedly worth considering for vaporizer enthusiasts who value quality, efficiency, and personalization. It is not an entry-level device despite all its great features.
