PAX Mini 2 Vaporizer – What's new?
Share
With the PAX Mini 2, PAX is launching a revised version of its smallest herbal vaporizer. Its predecessor was already a typical "always-on-the-go vape": small, discreet, simple. PAX is sticking to this concept – but with more power, more control, and somewhat more modern technology. The Mini 2 is designed to appeal to anyone who wants to take a few quick, discreet draws on the go, without having to mess with apps or complicated menus.
At first glance, the Mini 2 looks like a typical PAX: a slim aluminum housing, the familiar X-logo on the front, all very clean and minimalist. What's new is that the Mini 2 is available not only in Onyx (black) but also in Greenstone, a rich green that looks quite elegant. At about 9 centimeters long and weighing just under 90 grams, it disappears easily into your pocket yet still feels high-quality – nothing rattles, nothing feels cheap.
The most important change is inside: the herb chamber has grown significantly. Instead of a pure "microdose," you can now fill up to about 0.5 grams, but you can still use smaller fill quantities with the Half-Pack Lid. This makes the PAX Mini 2 more flexible – short solo sessions or longer rounds with friends, both are possible. As usual, the oven works with conduction, with the herbs resting directly against the heated chamber wall. If you grind somewhat finely and lightly tamp the chamber, you'll get an even, clean-tasting vapor.
A big difference from the old Mini: You can now choose between four temperature levels. The range of approximately 180 to 215 degrees covers everything – from very aromatic, light draws to potent vapor with a good effect. In practice, this means you can really experiment to find which level suits your style, instead of having to live with a fixed automatic mode. Heating up hardly takes any time, by the way – after a little over 20 seconds, the Mini 2 is ready to go, which is a real plus when you're on the move.
For the battery, PAX uses an integrated 1500 mAh battery. The manufacturer states approximately 60 minutes of active heating time, meaning several sessions before you need to plug it in again. For such a small vaporizer, this is absolutely reasonable. Charging is done via a magnetic USB-C cable: plug into the USB port, magnet to the PAX – done. A full charge takes about an hour and a half. The battery indicator is practical: a quick "shake" is enough, and the LEDs roughly show you how much power is left.
Operation remains typical PAX – one button, nothing more is needed. One press turns it on, further clicks change the temperature levels. There's no app requirement, no hidden menus, no gimmicks that you hardly ever use in practice anyway. In the background, sensors work to detect your draws and adjust the heating power accordingly. If you leave the device for a while, it automatically switches off to save battery. The haptic feedback (vibration) also helps you know what the Mini 2 is doing without looking.
PAX has also thought about cleaning. The magnetic oven lid can be removed with a flick of the wrist, the 3D screen can be pulled out, and the air duct can be cleaned with a pipe cleaner or the included brush. With a little isopropyl alcohol, the oven and vapor path are quickly clean again. If you regularly clean the Mini 2 briefly, the taste remains significantly better and the draw resistance pleasantly light.
The scope of delivery includes everything you need to get started: the vaporizer itself, a flat and a raised mouthpiece, a standard and a half-pack lid, a 3D chamber screen, cleaning tool, and the magnetic charging cable. Many shops also include a small multi-tool or replacement screens. If you want more, you can later add accessories such as grip sleeves, wooden charging stations, water pipe adapters, or Bud Kups (herb capsules) – the selection of PAX accessories is, as usual, extensive.
All in all, the PAX Mini 2 is clearly a device for people who are looking for an uncomplicated, discreet solution for dry herbs. Compared to the original Mini, you primarily get a larger chamber and real temperature selection, plus a few comfort features like haptic feedback, LED brightness control, and the USB-C magnetic charger. Anyone who was already satisfied with the first Mini but often wanted a bit more filling capacity or more control over the temperature will find a worthwhile upgrade in the Mini 2. It is less intended for absolute tech nerds with app gimmicks – but for purists, frequent travelers, and beginners, the PAX Mini 2 is a very well-rounded everyday vaporizer.
